Haritha Ayurveda Director Message

In this modern age work, communication, travel, and business have become very easy with the pace of technological development equipping every individual. But peace is still away in spite of all the comforts and easy ways available.

People are regularly stressed and life has become very complex. The concept of family is slowly breaking up causing more stress and fractures in society. This has to lead to many ailments and diseases coming up and people are becoming afflicted with them at a very early age. The stressful life is making it difficult, and this is where ancient Indian knowledge helps.

Haritha Ayurveda Academy was established in 2009 with the aim of bringing Ayurveda to everyone. The decision to choose Rishikesh was taken after much thought as it is the land of Yogis and the perfect place for getting away from the buzz of modern life. Ayurveda is the answer to all these things.

Ayurveda is an ancient science that is almost 5000 years old and is still developing. The approach of Ayurveda makes it different from modern medical science. The approach is holistic and links nature and humans together.

The disharmony with nature is what is causing all the imbalances and diseases as per Ayurvedic texts. If we look deeply it is in fact true. More buildings are coming up by removing trees and this means more pollution which causes all kinds of imbalances.

Ayurveda professes to change the lifestyle and the diet rather than taking medicines for treating diseases. Waking up in the morning at sunrise and sleeping for at least 7 hours are all prescribed and described in Ayurveda. Drinking a glass of warm water in the morning to detoxify the body and early morning walks are all part of the regime that this ancient medical science recommends.

Ayurveda is based on three core concepts of:

Body constitution

The body is made of five elements air, fire, earth, water and space. Every individual will have a different combination of these elements. The five elements are complemented with energy "Prana" or "Atma" which imparts the life force to the body. Hence every individual has to be treated separately unlike what is done in modern medical science. This energy has a universal source which is called “Paramatma”. Ayurveda is the process of keeping the five elements and energy in balance.

Connection with nature

Ayurveda says that the human body, its health and the environment are all interconnected with each other. An imbalance in nature causes a problem for human body and vice versa. The lack of external and internal harmony is responsible for all the diseases. Hence Ayurveda treats diseases as an imbalance and the treatment also follows the same.

Human body is made of unique life forces

The human body is a unique combination of forces called "Doshas". The Doshas are three in number viz. Vat, Kapha and Pitta. Kapha Dosha is linked to strength and immune system, Vata Dosha is linked to digestive system and the Pitta Dosha to the excretory system. At Haritha Ayurveda and Panchkarma center we believe that Ayurveda is the answer to all modern lifestyle issues and diseases.
